Journey delivered, as expected. Their sound is still very crisp, professionally in sync. Arnel did a better version of "Open Arms" compared to the one on the Revelation CD/DVD. The band also let him do more of the spiels between songs. We pinoys, as usual, were snotty and rigid - while Americans were throwing their arms up & dancing. Room for improvement: They could throw in a "newer" front act - one that came after Cheap Trick and Heart if they want a younger generation added to their roster of fans. Also Chastain Park Ampitheatre could use a better sound system - one that's designed for the outdoors. Northpoint Community Church has a better outdoor sound system and it doesn't cost me $100. Overall it was great to see Americans support Journey despite having an Asian vocalist. I bet this tremendously helped Arnel relax and feel comfortable to do his thing. Of course there was the Filipino flag up in the air. In the end, the band received an endless standing ovation. Then Arnel said, "Pinoy, salamat!".
BTW: Watch CNN Headline News Channel: A show called "News-to-Me" A guy named Eric on that show interviewed us (8 Pinoys waiting for concert to start) and had Noel sing some lines from Journey songs. It's on for this Saturday & Sunday, August 9 & 10 @ 7:30p, 9:30p and 12:30a.
This is a group of corporate & church leaders coming together to give their ideas about running an organization in the light of Jesus' leadership. Great examples, great variety. Run & get you a copy. It's better than radio for your daily commute.
